Great Southern Industries improves energy efficiency and workplace environment with LightEdison lighting solution.

Challenge

Great Southern Industries has manufactured corrugated containers, packaging and shipping supplies since 1962. Their dated, mismatched lighting system was producing low light conditions throughout their extremely large operations facility. Light levels throughout the plant did not meet ownership expectations for rising utility costs, maintenance and was contributing to an unproductive working environment.

Solution

LightEdison completed a high-quality design/build solution including 325 high-efficiency high bay fixture replacements as well as 165 troffer retrofit kits for Great Southern’s manufacturing, printing, storage and maintenance plant.

Results

The LED lighting retrofit solution is expected to generate savings of $490,785 over 10-years. In addition to the very strong financial performance of this installation, lighting energy consumption was reduced by 70% and included a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of over 5,200,000 lbs. Most importantly, net profits were improved based on more efficient throughput throughout the facility.
