LightEdison is a licensed electrical contractor that specializes in the installation of commercial, industrial and utility scale projects. LightEdison personnel have designed and constructed over 300 energy systems in the last 5 years, including more than 15MW of solar projects. Many of these solar projects were complex carport and remote location installations.

At LightEdison, we have a deep understanding of the electric industry earned from our participation in over 1,000+ energy projects since 2000, ranging from efficiency to distributed solar and wind to utility scale wind to complex landfill gas and combined heat and power projects. Based on our turnkey execution history and renewable energy projects and our working relationship with national labs, universities and industry leaders, our team is experienced in delivering successful energy projects that create excellent short-, mid- and long-term value for our customers. We are comprised of a specific commercial LED lighting division, a microrid consulting division and our in-house solar + storage construction division.

Our team includes Certified Licensed Professionals, Master Electricians, NABCEP Certified Installers, Project Managers and an experienced in-house construction team. Together, we direct clients through the process of an energy project – from origination, to execution, all the way to long term monitoring, operation and maintenance. Other energy companies are just project managers, sales and marketing operations and more than likely aren't educated nor experienced within the solar + storage industry. These companies outsource the design and engineering, component installation labor and the electrical system installation to individual companies for each task item, ultimately creating unneeded process inefficiencies.

Solar carports & canopies

LightEdison has designed and built hundreds of custom solar structures for a variety of solar carport and canopy systems throughout the US and Caribbean. LightEdison’s solar carport structures are engineered for each specific project location’s permitting authority. All steel columns and beams are Wide Flange (ASTM A992) or Tub Steel (ASTM A500) with 2 part finish coating. Purlin rails are A653 with G90 galvanized finish coating. All purlins come with pre-punched module mounting holes for a through bolted module connection from under the structure. Lightedison believes your solar carport system should be built with industrial grade components that provide our customers with a heavy duty foundation over the long haul.

off-grid and energy storage

In a remote location? Not in a remote location? Off grid solar systems provide clean, renewable energy to residential, commercial and industrial sites all over the the world--and LightEdison has installed dozens of off-grid solar sites through the US and Caribbean. Often considered too expensive due to equipment costs, off-grid systems have been the second or even third option for securing power for a site. LightEdison’s team can simplify the design and implementation of battery-based, off-grid systems where grid power is either too difficult to reach or simply unavailable. If rolling blackouts, natural disasters, utility interruptions, damaging equipment or you live in an area where utility power is prohibitively expensive, then you should be looking into a off-grid system.

Typical off grid solar systems consist of solar panels, a DC-to-AC inverter, charge controller and a battery bank sized to accommodate the required amount of energy storage. The solar system is sized to provide enough electricity to power the daytime loads while fully charging the batteries each day for the night time loads. At night, the energy storage powers the chosen connected load or equipment. To protect against prolonged periods of cloudy weather, LightEdison can include a backup natural gas or propane fired generator for complete reliability and functionality.

Most off-grid solar systems utilize energy storage in some form.
