Prairie Engineers improves productivity, quality and reduces lighting energy demand with LightEdison.

LightEdison delivers a model LED lighting package for engineering firm with multiple locations.

Challenge

Prairie Engineers of Illinois offers their community a full range of engineering services from their four offices throughout Illinois. The leadership at Prairie Engineers was concerned that low light conditions in both the indoor and outdoor spaces were negatively impacting productivity and safety for both employees and guests. Given the time sensitive nature of much of their work, marginal losses in employee productivity have cascading effects for downstream clients.

Solution

LightEdison designed and installed 31 retrofit kits, 5 replacement fixtures, 12 replacement lamps and 10 interior controls; increasing worker productivity in interior spaces and improving safety and security in exterior areas. By designing appropriate color temperatures and improving color rendering in the interior, employees were subject to less fatigue throughout the day allowing for maximum improvement to productivity and operational efficiency. Overall lighting use was reduced by over 83%, while allowing employees to be more productive and improve overall morale.

Results

Praire Engineers has avoided paying a net $37,199 in direct lighting costs over the next 10 year. Those benefits are marginal compared with increased safety on the exterior and increased productivity on the interior, resulting in improved on time delivery of projects.

Testimonial

“We love our LED lighting upgrade. Since switching our entire office to LED lights, both our parking lot and interior rooms are brighter, we pay less each month for that lighting, and we are reducing our demand on the electric grid as well. It’s a win-win-win situation.”
